Day 56, Happy Birthday Whoppi

Whoppi Goldberg and I share the same birthday.
This year it falls on Friday the 13th.
I thought that I send her a care package with some Plastic Heaven goodies.
Why...Why not?

Day 50-Dear Pessimist

50 Days----315 to go
This letter goes out to the one who believed I wouldn't make it to Day 50.
I made this paper for her with 50 number fifties.

Day 47, Dear Dr. du Plessis

Earlier this week I was in a conversation with a High School girl about college and her future plans. Typical "Senior" conversation....I began to think about that transition to college and the teachers and professors that made an impact in my time at University.

Do you remember that professor, teacher, or coach that showed you a new way of looking at things?
Inspired you-
First year, first semester in College I encountered a professor that did just that...
Dr. du Plessis
English 101, then English 102, then we were teaching partners for a course called University 100, and finally French Cinema.

What a time-
So I sent a note, just to say hello and remind him that he is making a difference and made a difference with me.

I've now made a list of all those people that have touched my life.
Good thing this is a year long project.

Day 43, Reply from a Textile Study friend-Mali connection

So excited to receive an email from a former travel partner.
I traveled to Mali, Africa back in 2006/2007 with a group of people from all over the country-
The journey was coordinated by The Textile Museum of Washington D.C., the experience is another travel journey that changed my life.
The group was comprised of a spectrum of personalities and professions (most were retired).
I reached out to a fellow traveler that I haven't spoken to in years (4 years to be exact), sent her a note on stationary from The Victoria and Albert Museum.
I was pleased to hear that she is back in NYC, has been traveling and living in India and Italy for the past couple of years. We have agreed to meet on my next trip to New York and I'm thrilled.
Especially since I have plans to travel to India this summer.

Reconnect with someone you shared a memorable experience

Day 42, Dear This is not my Maryland

As you can tell, I am not posting everyday.
I'm trying to post at minimum once a week. Highlighting some of my favorite stationary and topics.
I must say that the writing is becoming part of my daily routine and knowing that I am a part of keeping the postal service in business doesn't make me feel so bad either.

This is a postcard sent overseas to a friend
This is not the Maryland I know, but maybe next summer I'll look for it.
Check out the postcards at gas stations, they are little gems.

Day 33, Response to my mother

Like I said in the first post of Project Write On, my mom writes the best letters.
Today, I'm writing a Thank you letter to my mother.
She sent me this:

It's adorable and for a great cause Wildlife Land Trust-Shelters Without Walls.
What was enclosed was even a better treat, a contributing membership to the Smithsonian Museums. So, I get exclusive invites and discounts at the Museums shops!
She is too lovely-
In response I'm sending her a calendar of Smithsonian events with some highlighted that we could enjoy together.

Letters, the best gift sealed with a stamp.

Day 29, Dear C'est, ce que, c'est

Some days are so special...
When someone allows you full access into their world.
It feels good to be trusted and to be so close.
